Q.

What could be causing constipation?

Hi Angela is there a link between constipation and eating the same foods as you normally do but having butter instead of low fat spread ? Thanks

A.

Our expert says...

If the only change you have made is from butter to low fat spread, then, no, I don't think the constipation can be related to this. So you'll need to look for another reason, which would usually include somehow having less fibre in your diet (from whole grains, fruit or veg). However constipation can also be linked to not drinking enough fluids, getting into a rut with your diet (so try a variety of different high fibre foods instead of sticking to the same few), or even doing less exercise than usual. If constipation persists and you can't work out why, visit your GP. Good luck!
