Q.

Is there any health-related reason not to stay on 1400 cals

I'm one pound away from my original weight-loss goal, which was to reach 110 lbs from 134. While of course I'm very pleased, I've found that my appetite has changed significantly since I began counting calories. The 1400/day limit, while a bit difficult in the early stages, has become a comfortable amount for me (I get a bit hungrier in the middle of my cycle, so I eat more then). If I continue on with 1400/day intake and 200/day burned in exercise, I think I'll continue to lose weight slowly, but is there any health-related reason not to? I'm five feet tall and "athletically" built - broad shouldered and a bit busty for my size rather than tiny-framed altogether. Has my appetite just readjusted itself to more closely match what I actually require given my size and my fairly sedentary lifestyle?

Thanks for your question and a big ?well done!? on getting so close to your goal. I think you have it right: if you continue with 1400 calories you will continue to lose weight at a slower rate than perhaps before but hopefully steadily none the less (and yes your appetite does adjust). You?d have to be quite tiny and very sedentary not to lose weight on this amount of calories, but there is no health related reason not to continue as long as you do not become underweight. Once you have reached your goal weight a recalculation to give you your maintenance calorie intake should ensure youkeep your weight the same. Good luck!
