Any advice on the best Thai food options?

Hi, I am heading out to a Thai restaurant and need some advice on the calorie content of low spice veggie thai food. I want to enjoy myself but dont want to break my diet!! Thanks

As with Chinese food, it's possible to eat really well or really badly with Thai! As a broad brushstroke, peanut sauces and coconut milk / cream are items to steer clear of, whereas healthier options are steamed dishes, clear soups and noodle dishes and plain boiled rice.

It's not easy to find detailed calorie breakdowns for Thai dishes, particularly vegetarian ones, but the healthier options below may give you give you a clue of what to choose, bearing in mind that the vegetarian equivalents may be lower calorie still.

Small Thai fish cake – around 50 cals

Tom yam gung ( hot and sour soup) - approx 120 calories

Satay stick - around 150 cals each and you may be able to get a quorn option as an alternative to chicken or prawn. Team with lower caloreisweet chilli sauce rather than peanut sauce.

Moo pad king (pork with ginger) – 310 calories

Pork with bamboo shoots – 370 calories

Yam talay (seafood salad) without dressing – 150 calories
