How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

I have lost 4st 3.6lbs59.6lbs27kg in 10 months. The weight loss was steady with only a couple of small gains/maintains along the way but these were explainable and down to going back to bad habits due to lockdown celebrations but I don’t consider this to be a diet, it is a lifestyle and we are going to fluctuate along the way. It's a case of jumping straight back on it and not writing the whole week off.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

I have been a dieter all my life and tried many different diets. I had successfully lost 7st 3lb prior to joining Nutracheck but slowly over a year or so the weight had crept back on (I had gone from my target weight of 11st back up to 14st 10lb) and it was getting really difficult to lose. When we went into lockdown last March, I think everyone thought it would only be for a couple of weeks and we all went a little mad with food and drink, or was that just me?! I saw the picture of myself on one of my walks and decided enough was enough. I honestly thought we would be back to work soon and my work clothes were getting tighter by the day. Plus I was aware it wasn’t healthy to be carrying so much extra weight and I had lost all my confidence again with not many clothes fitting me.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

My friend had been telling me about calorie counting for a while and had been quite successful. I did look at another app but found it quite hard to follow and not as user friendly as Nutracheck. I saw this on the App Store and thought I would give it a try. It is a fantastic app where foods are easy to find on the barcode scanner. The support from the team is excellent and for the price you cannot find better support. The forums are good to look at and you do feel part of a great team.

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

I have always struggled with my weight, I am a comfort eater with a sweet tooth. Tried many diets, some more successful than others, but the weight has always crept back on.

How easy wait to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

It was extremely easy. I eat all the same foods I did prior to joining Nutracheck but have smaller portions. Portion control was a big failure of mine prior to this and I always ate until I felt like I was going to burst. Now I feel like I'm in control and no food is a sin.

What was the most difficult thing?

The first week was the worst getting used to eating smaller portions but even that was OK.

How do you feel now compared to before?

I feel so much better about myself and my appearance and my fitness levels have improved massively. My BMI is now in the normal bracket and I have so much more energy.

Any notable milestones to report?

On my previous diet I had set my target to 11st which I was happy with but always wanted to get a bit lower, which I just could not do or maintain. I put it down to my age and just accepted that maybe this was my natural weight. I have smashed the 11st target weight with Nutracheck and found it quite easy to get to 10st 7lb. Also, along the way I was so happy to be able to get back into my skinny jeans and dresses that I thought I would never fit into again.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Only get weighed once a week, aim for the same day and time with roughly the same clothes on - your weight fluctuates throughout the week and depending on what time of day you get weighed it can increase quite a bit and this can be so disheartening.
  2. Don't feel guilty for having a bad day/week. Jump straight back onto it and start again. Look forward not backwards.
  3. If you have a lot to lose. Don't look at the big picture, every 1lb loss is a loss and aim for the mini awards, i.e. half stones etc, and before you know it the pounds turn into stones.
