What was your start weight, your current weight, how much weight have you lost, and how long did it take?

My start weight was 20st 11.5lbs291.5lbs132kg, and my current weight is 15st 3lbs213lbs96.6kg. It has taken me 18 months.

Was there something that prompted your decision to lose weight?

Getting asked to leave a rollercoaster because I was too big to safely fit was the final straw.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

I looked up tracking apps on Google.

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

I have struggled with overeating for years. I used another well-known service, which gave me a really bad relationship with food and made me overeat, and my weight ballooned! Then I found Nutracheck and studied nutrition, and everything fell into place.

Have you experienced any health improvements?

Many! I have fibromyalgia, and since losing weight and eating healthier, I feel like my pain levels have dropped significantly. I feel happier, healthier and much more confident in myself.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

I found it very easy because with counting calories, nothing at all is off the table, and as long as it fits in your daily allowance, you will lose weight.

What was the most challenging aspect of your weight loss journey, and how did you overcome this?

Understanding why we should eat certain foods. I was fed up with doing different diet plans and people telling me what I can and can't eat, so I decided to do a course in nutrition to help me understand more. This allowed me to help myself, and has since led to setting up my own small business on Facebook called The Wellness Academy to coach others, which I am really excited about.

How do you feel since losing the weight, compared to before?

I feel less anxious to leave the house, less self-conscious and more confident than ever before.

Do you have any non-scale victories you would like to share?

The funniest ones are when people don't recognise you. I was in Tesco and saw a lady I hadn't seen for a while, who I knew quite well, and I said hello to her. She blanked me, then a few moments later she came and said OH MY GOD, I didn't realise it was you!

How did you feel the app supported you? Were there any specific features you found helpful?

I have tried a few apps and Nutracheck is the best out there. It’s user-friendly and fun, and I love the feature where photos come up of each food. I love that I can see my calories, protein and fibre all on the same screen now, so I can make sure I am hitting these targets as often as I can. It really is a fantastic app!

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. I would say consistency is key! Wake up every day and track your breakfast. If you fall off plan, wake up the next day and track your breakfast. One day, it will stick.
  2. Planning is also key. I meal plan and food shop weekly so that I know what I am having and it's easier to stay on track.
  3. A big one is to be kind to yourself. It takes a long time to unlearn all of the myths you have ever known about losing weight.
