How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

I've lost 3st 10lbs 52lbs 35.8kg this year with Nutracheck, it took me 11 months exactly. I have lost 5st 9lbs 79lbs 23.6kg overall from my highest weight.

What prompted your decision to lose weight

I was fed up of feeling fat and frumpy. I felt so uncomfortable in my clothes and dreaded clothes shopping. I also wanted to be a better role model for my three young daughters and encourage them to be healthy and look after their bodies.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

Someone recommend it on Facebook, so I downloaded the app. I thought I'd give the week's trial a go and see how I did. I found the app excellent and so easy to use. I didn't feel restricted and felt in control. I was very surprised to see that I lost weight after the first week as it didn’t feel like I'd been on a 'diet'!

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

I've always been a classic yo-yo dieter. Six years ago, I lost quite a bit of weight using another diet plan but ended up putting half of it back on. I tried several times over the years to lose it again, but I'd get frustrated and give up as those diet plans were too restrictive and didn't fit into my lifestyle. I spent years losing and gaining the same 10lbs.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

Very easy - I think that's the reason Nutracheck worked for me. Other plans 'ban' certain foods or make you feel bad for eating certain things. With Nutracheck I could eat whatever I liked as long as I was sensible and it fitted within my calorie target. It was fantastic to be able to share meal times with my family and not have to make a separate meal. I also loved that I could set an 'easier day' so I could enjoy myself at a social occasion.

What was the most difficult thing?

Being patient. I lost on average 1lb per week, sometimes 0.5lbs and occasionally 2lbs. There were weeks when it felt the weight was coming off so slowly, I felt like giving up. But I told myself to be patient and keep going - the small losses all add up! They added up to 52lbs in the end!

How do you feel now compared to before?

I feel great! I have a lot more energy to run after my daughters and I feel more confident. It's so nice to feel comfortable in my clothes, which I haven't felt in a long time. It feels a little strange buying size 12 though!

Any notable milestones to report?

I've gone from wearing a size 20 to a size 12. I recently felt brave enough to wear a skirt, which I haven't done in years as I used to hate my legs.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Be patient. Don't get disheartened by the little losses or even gains along the way. See it as a journey, stick with it and it will come.
  2. Be consistent. Log your food diligently and make sure you are weighing and measuring what you are having, it's so easy to underestimate how much is actually on your plate!
  3. Plan ahead and log your food before you eat it, so you don't have any nasty surprises at the end of the day!
