No weight loss on 1400 cals and 20g fat

Currently I'm eating 1400kcal a day and around 20g fat. I do more than ten thousand steps every day and my weight has not changed. My typical diet is Breakfast: Porridge and sultanas. Lunch - eaten in two halfs, one at 1.30 and 4.30: 50g cous cous, mixed veg, chicken, 2 oranges, banana. Tea: Chicken, sprouts, carrots, broad beans 2 yorkshire puddings. Snacks: 2 oranges. Do you have any advice that can help?? Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your query and I am really sorry to hear that you are struggling and feeling disappointed! As so many people get quick results at first, it's really disheartening when your own weight loss does not fit this pattern.

However, how your body loses pounds is a very personal thing and a quick look at your diary seems to show that you've only been going for a couple of weeks, which means anything could still happen! Though it doesn't sound like particularly encouraging advice, can I urge you to keep with it and see how things go, at least for a couple of weeks more? You seem to be having a healthy diet, though at 20g you are on the bottom limit of safe fat intake, and if anything, I would encourage you to have slightly more, which perhaps you could add in the form of a handful of nuts, a drizzle of olive oil or some oily fish.

On the exercise front, what matters is doing more than before, so if you were always walking 10,000 steps, even before you started dieting, it's what you do EXTRA now that counts. Shaking things up can make a difference - how about part jogging part walking for example? Or trying a new sport, or going to the gym. Variety in your physical activity is the key to good weight when it comes to exercise, so it’s worth bearing this in mind!

I wish you all the best and do get back in touch if you’re still struggling in a little while.
